Relief Funds Sent To Haiti By The Auto Industry

January 16, 2009

The massive disaster in Haiti ( 7.0 magnitude earthquake ) has already taken so much away from the inhabitants, however, people around the world are sending in millions of dollars in relief funds, including companies within the auto industry. Toyota Motor North America Inc. announced yesterday that it is donating $500,000 to the American Red Cross, Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders.

General Motors Co., Nissan Motor Co., Ford Motor Co., and supplier Eaton Corp. also have made contributions.

GM approved a $100,000 contribution to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund on Wednesday. Nissan donated $30,000 in cash and will eventually send in $100,000.

A prominent engine parts supplier, Eaton, pledged $100,000 to the Red Cross fund.
